Nu Order

I am losing my motherfreaking mind!

This new AMBUSH campaign right here is the best, THE BEST jewelry and watches campaign I have seen in a long, looong, loooong time. When I saw the pictures, this Rihanna phrase came to my mind: “How can you be so hood, but you so fucking pop? How could you be so fun and sound like you are selling rocks!” And please don’t ask me why. It was just the immediate soundtrack my mind gave your collection.

Maybe because AMBUSH “NU ORDER” collection is a pure, stark and modern take on an old school classics with medieval twist. This could be the revival to Michael Jackson’s Remember The Time video, giving it like a modern Egyptian twist. Ugh… That would be so dope. Anyway…the motto for this collection is: shine harder than the street lights in your very own way. And this is shining brighter than any diamond you have ever seen. The brand with their Tokyo-based designers Verbal and Yoon is known for introducing bold designs, which are inspired by the phrase “Anything goes”. And actually not only anything but A WHOLE LOT goes with this collection:

BANZAI

I wonder if you know, how they live in Tokyo…Faaaaast and Furious!
OK, I am not sure about the fast and furious thing, but I can certainly say that they live in style and with good taste. Maybe this is just a stereotype and/or prejudice, but everything I know that comes from Japan is just beyond dope! So anything that comes across my way just confirms my thoughts about Japanese fashion. And it’s not only Japan, it’s the whole Asian continent. I bet they have special fashion genes that just make them have good taste.
What makes me say this is Yoruko Banzai. I am not sure if you have already heard about him, but he is provoking something in my brain that still needs to be explored by scientists. Like I am going crazy, in a positive way.
BANZAI1Yoruko Banzai was born December 15 in Osaka, Japan. Whilst studying at university, he joined a contemporary circus troupe, working as a costume maker, scriptwriter and choreographer, as well as performing. After relocating to Tokyo, he launched the creative project BANZAI, with his works now stocked in various select shops in Japan and London.  For primitivelondon.co.uk he explains the inspiration and concept behind the brand:

“It depends on the work that I show. With small production run, one-off pieces, there’s a direct connection to myself. It really shows who I am. It’s a bit self-gratifying but I enjoy it. I had some issues with mass production, but if the wearer says that that doesn’t matter, then I’m very happy. Today was the launch of Haka and when I went to drop off the pieces at a store in Tokyo and a customer came in immediately and purchased a Haka sweater as a present for her boyfriend, which really touched me. It’s a strange and indescribable feeling how something I made becomes part of the life of someone I don’t know. Like I mentioned earlier, because I think it’s important for me to always be on the lookout for inspiration wherever I am, there is no specific inspiration or concept behind BANZAI.”

And his personal style is something to look up to. I honestly wish I could dress like you. I swear from now, when buy clothes I will just ask myself: What would Yoruko do?
You can shop his pieces on www.banzaionlinestore.com or on Fartech.com!

Supermodel crush

I don’t know why it happened.
I don’t know when it happened.
I don’t know what happened.
I just know that I got a supermodel crush with a British fashion model. Her accent is too cute. She was discovered in Primark back  in 2006 and from there on signed to Storm Model Management in London. In 2008, she was the first black model to walk a Prada runway in over a decade and was crowned “Model of the Year”. She is a Victoria’s Secret angel. And she is best friends with Cara Delevigne, Rihanna and many more of your favorite superstars. She is younger than me and is a 90’s kid. And yes, she has a child, but that is just making her a MILF.
Any clue?
… Keep thinking!…
Got it?
It’s Jourdan Dunn:

And just to make it clear: I don’t like her because of her butt picture (and her butt is hawt). I like her because she knows how to do commercial shit, editorial shit, clothes and make up, and be the high fashion model that she is. She is giving the industry another flair, because she is not Tyra and she is not Naomi and she is not Alec. Jourdan is giving urbanity a face, if that makes any sense. Her style is dope, she is dope, what more can I say…
I just have the feeling that you are going to hear more from her very very soon. And she is going to blow up although she already is a supermodel!

Ohhh, I remember when it happened:

Asian Persuasion

Work got me so tired, all I can give you today is:
(Just in case you wonder: NO, this is not Evelyn. Not all Asians look the same, dumbass!)

An appreciation post for a genius

The term „Manga“ or „Anime“ is most likely familiar to every 90s child. We grew up with Animes like Sailor Moon and Pokemon without even knowing where they were coming from.

You have to keep in mind that the 90s weren’t a decade of the so called „Social Media Generation“. It was not that common to google every single thing and find out about stuff within a few seconds. Nonetheless the japanese phenomenon managed to excite people overseas. Come to think of it the japanese influence was and still is enormous.

However, I’m gonna report you something about my favorite Manga, which is most likely also the most influential and successful one ever. The amount of information is just too overwhelming, and this is gonna be a personal opinion and not a resumé of the whole manga and the amount of the impact on the world.

In 1997 the 22 years old Eiichiro Oda had an idea. The idea was simple and pretty ordinary. He started to tell a story about a boy, who wanted to become the king of the pirates and find the hidden treasure “One Piece”. That boy named Luffy was a special boy, who had extra powers because of a magical fruit. The story, which sounded like nothing special began to become more interesting and complex with each chapter and each new character. In no time people began to understand that Oda was not only just another “Shonen Mangaka” but a great story teller, drawer and a genius. (some may call him “god”)

In my opinion the special thing about him is, that his story continues since 15 years and he’s still able to keep the complexity, link the events with each other and leave the readers with a “wow”. Once a week when I read a chapter, I am able to relax, laugh and cry and just forget about the world for like 5 minutes.

Oda’s trying to tell the readers about morality and the importance of family and friendship. And that’s the hidden key to his success. He’s not just aiming at teenagers, but at everyone at every age. I, myself started to watch One Piece at the age of 13, ten years later I still haven’t lost interest. That’s something not many things manage to achieve.

Thank you for being there Oda! Thank you for showing that even a grown up should never stop dreaming and lose his/her inner child! Thank you for making this world a bit better with your amazing lifework! Arigato gozaimasu !
